Choijin Lama located in Ulaanbaatar is a former monastery built between 1904 and 1908. The monastery was still active until 1938. In 1941 the monastery was included on a list of historical and cultural monuments and was thus preserved throughout many periods of occupation and destruction of such monasteries. Tsam is a traditional ceremony where the lama's dress up in ornate costumes and masks and perform ritual dances.
