HAEINSA - KOREA
Haeinsa is the second of the Three Jewels Temples of Korea.
It was first built in 802 A.D. during the reign of King Aejang of the Shilla Dynasty.
Destroyed seven times since its original construction, most of the buildings now standing date from the 19th.
Haeinsa houses over 80,000 wooden printing blocks of Buddhist scripture which took 15 years to make.
These blocks was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1995.
The impetus behind the making of these blocks was to pray for the defeat of the Mongolian invasion during the Koryo Dynasty.
